Dad had got up before I did as I had noticed his boots had gone as he goes up to work on the farm about 5 miles away every day like he has done for the past twenty years, I have to get up at half five in the morning to go to work which I am not sure about sometimes. I am Nathan Jones a musician dreaming of being noticed for his talent, I went to University to study music about five years ago now and passed with honours but I haven’t been able to find anything to do with music as a permanent job yet which I so hope to find, I am very nearly twenty seven years old and I still don’t feel like a grown up just yet. I picked my guitar up and put it carefully away in its beautiful leather case my mum, dad and sister Olivia had brought me for my twenty first birthday all those years ago now I can’t believe it, I love my guitar it’s my most prized possession it was my Grandfathers and he passed it onto me as I used to always admire it since being small when my Grandfather used to play it. I work at Jim’s Art Shop just across the town I have worked there since I left University to earn some money, I am enjoying it and I love the people there but some days it can be a bit of a chore if I am honest, I poured myself a bowl of lucky charms my favourite cereal as it reminds me of holidays in America which we often go on and picked up my dad’s morning paper and skimmed through it, I frowned at some of the headlines why can’t there be anything positive in these papers for once. Then I heard footsteps coming towards the kitchen my twenty three year old sister Olivia comes in yawning away as she headed towards the coffee pot. “Oh typical!” Olivia tutted “dad hasn’t filled the pot up again” she sighed as she got us our mugs out, my Captain America one and her Hello Kitty one “How are you doing this morning Nate?” Liv asked as she warmed the coffee pot up “Not doing too bad thanks Jim wants me to open the shop up again this morning” I shrugged as I put dads paper down “Surely that’s a good thing Nate that means he values you” Liv smiled as she poured us both a mug of coffee each “I guess so, but if it means not getting up so early maybe I will be more grateful” I laughed as I took a sip of my coffee while Liv poured herself a bowl of lucky charms, Olivia works on the farm with our dad she looks after the horses there and gives the kids riding lessons at the weekends. “Well Nate I think you are doing rather well!” Liv laughed with me “let’s hope Jas isn’t as much as a handful today hey” Live laughed more as she cleared the breakfast things away, Jasmine is my fellow co-worker at Jimmy’s she’s really chatty and giggly, she can be a pain at times but I don’t mind her company she can be a laugh. I went upstairs to grab my rucksack with my packed lunch in which I always prepare the night before and went to go and warm my car up, my lovely little red mini cooper which has not let me down once so far, I often sit in my car for ten minutes before I set off and switch radio one on to get me started for the day.
